Free Charity Governance Workshop
Canadian charities lawyer Richard Bridge presents current information on governance, financial management, applying for and maintaining charitable status in Canada.

Date: Monday, March 29th, 2010
Location: Selkirk College, Trail, BC
Cost: Free

Details:
Free and essential information for charity staff and Boards!!! Lower Mainland sessions.

Are you confused about CRA requirements for registered charities?

Do you feel that your charitable status may be at risk?

Could you use some tips on effective governance?

Do you represent a non profit organization that is considering applying for charitable status?

We at the BC Centre for Social Enterprise are delighted by our partnership with Canadian charities lawyer Richard Bridge, in order to share plain-language and current information on charity governance, fundraising limits, and reporting. This project is generously supported by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Topics to be covered include financial areas such as proper receipting, managing books and records, the disbursement quota, the new T3010B information return, GST / HST, and CRA audits. Good governance principles and approaches are another focus, which is extremely important for Board members. The session also offers advice on allowable fundraising activities, and social enterprise.

We have so far delivered 16 of these sessions across Western Canada, and the positive feedback has been astounding. Many participants state that this session should be a prerequisite for any staff or Board members involved in charities. Other comments that we have received revolve around people's realization that 'you don't know what you don't know until you know it!'.

Here are the Lower Mainland, BC dates. All sessions are free, but pre-registration is a must. Attendees receive a free comprehensive information package.
