TRACTION FOR SOCIAL ACTION: Skill Development and Support for Social Planning in the Kootenays
Participants will benefit from this practical and interactive workshop about community social planning. By attending this workshop, you will also learn how to gain ‘traction’ on important social issues within your community or organization.

Date: Wednesday, March 24th, 2010
Location: Rossland

Details: 
Conference participants will:

• Exchange ideas and network with people engaged in social development and health initiatives in Kootenay communities

• Contribute to community well being in the Kootenays through dialogue and action planning activities

• Engage in skill building workshops that address the following types of questions:
o What is community social planning and how can it work for your community?
o What are proven techniques for engaging diverse populations in public policy decision making processes?
o How can social and health data be used in simple ways to support community planning and action?
o How can we address complicated multiple determinants of health, such as income, literacy, food security, and housing, through community development initiatives in the Kootenays?
