Description

Nancy Newhouse has been the project biologist for the East Kootenay Badger Project since 1996. The project has involved a three pronged approach including research, conservation and education. The research component is a long-term radiotelemetry study of over 30 badgers to determine home range size, habitat use, reproductive success and mortality factors. In addition, 16 animals from NW Montana have been translocated to the upper Columbia Valley in an effort to augment the population.
