Welcome to
Your Water, Your Future
the Columbia Basin Water Stewardship Education Program

CBEEN CBT

CBEEN gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Columbia Basin Trust, a regional corporation created to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits to the residents of the Columbia Basin.

Water is crucial for all life on Earth. Human actions, past and present, are significantly affecting the interconnected water resources of the Columbia Basin. ‘Your Water, Your Future’ is a valuable, easy to use curriculum package you can employ to help educate Basin students on a wide range of critical, local water issues.

What it is: Your Water, Your Future is a series of 31 fully developed Lesson Plans and supporting resources which introduce students from grades K-12 to basic water issues and topics from their own backyards. An emphasis is placed on activities which are fun and thought provoking. Starting with the fundamentals of what a watershed is, follow on lessons include topics such as conservation, pollution, hydro-electricity, First Nation history and culture, water ecology, history of the Columbia River Treaty and the future of Columbia Basin water.

Benefits:

  • Regional – ties learning to local, real-world subjects
  • PLO Linked – all lessons cover BC Proscribed Learning Outcomes
  • Activities - hands-on, experiential learning
  • Free and easy! – Program kits are available through your DRC
