Facilitated Classroom Demonstration Lessons
CBEEN offered FREE classroom demonstration lessons as part of our WSEP promotion in Fall 2007. Students and teachers were introduced to watershed issues in the Columbia Basin by partaking in the introductory lesson, "What is a Watershed?". The goal was to provide CBEEN outreach and entice teachers to order the kits on their own in order to do follow-up lessons.
Some teachers indicated they might be interested in such an offer in the Spring, and we are hoping to be able to accommodate this. We would need to sort out the logistics of pulling the kits out of a couple of Districts and therefore an offer will work best if conducted in a somewhat limited time frame.
We would want to open up the introductory lessons to a wider range of grades (K-12). Teachers can visit the Lesson Plans pages to see where these "What is Watershed?" lessons fit into the Prescribed Learning Outcomes and what other follow-up lessons are available for the grades you teach.
If you are interested in this offer, please contact Chris Ferguson (program coordinator) at wsep@cbeen.org to register and based on numbers and timelines, we will do our best to have another round of visits in the months ahead.
While at schools, time permitting, we would be very happy to meet with any staff member who is interested in learning more about the program. Unfortunately, due to kit resource limitations, we can only teach one regular class of students at a time.
